Transports in Austria
Some of the big cities, like Vienna and Salzburg, offer day passes for local public transport. Look out for SparSchiene if you are travelling by train between cities because this will often result in large reductions on the usual price due to special offers. Bus services are not frequent and can be non-existent in some rural areas so car travel is recommended instead.
WHEN TO GO TO AUSTRIA ?
Skiing takes off in earnest in early December and usually runs until the end of April. If you want to enjoy the mountains for hiking and mountain biking, then any time from mid-May is a good time to book your travel. The city of Graz holds a series of concerts, known as Elevate, in March as well as a summertime jazz festival. Linz's festival of cabaret takes place each year throughout the whole of November.
