We wanted to preserve the authenticity and charm of this house. And give our customers a personalised welcome. Moreover, our rooms have not been standardised – they’re all different, explain the Seguin family. The elegant rooms with their Belle Epoque style will plunge you into the heart of the nineteenth century, when ladies in hats strolled the grounds. Some rooms are decked out in a more contemporary style, but the level of comfort remains the same throughout, with all the necessary amenities. Finally, the terrace rooms have access to the grounds and, a little further on, the beach.

To get your day off to a great start, the Seguin family provide an excellent buffet or continental breakfast served on the terrace, in the shade of the large pines, or in your room. The hotel has a bar where you can relax after a long lazy day at the beach or exploring the surrounding area. The Seguin family encourage you to "settle down comfortably in an armchair in the lounge and just soak up the spirit of the Résidence". Woodwork, period paintings and traditional decor make this bar a magical place.

LA TREMBLADE

It’s perfectly possible to combine walking with foodie delights. The Seguins recommend a walk around La Tremblade, 25 minutes from Vaux-sur-Mer. There, along Chenal de la Grève, you’ll find pretty oyster huts in a myriad of colours. You’ll also be able to sample shellfish, oysters and the famous Charentaise specialty: pine-smoked mussels.

ROYAN

Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot nicknamed this place the "pearl of the ocean". But that was in the 19th century. Much of Royan was since destroyed during the Second World War. This city, emblematic of the Côte de Beauté during the Belle Epoque, has preserved its beautiful sandy beaches. A walk towards Conche de Pontaillac is highly recommended, especially since there are some Belle Epoque villas to admire in the park and Pontaillac neighbourhoods.
