LA RIVE DROITE

Launched 22 meters above the Penfeld, the Recouvrance Bridge is the gateway to this neighborhood, watched over by the Tanguy Tower (14th century), now a museum of Old Brest. A little further on, the Jardin des Explorateurs. In its beds, plants brought back since the 18th century by traveling botanists. Extraordinary views of the harbor and the castle. Nearby, the Maison de la Fontaine, one of the oldest houses in the city. Take a walk down Saint-Malo Street, one of the few surviving remnants of Old Brest.

LA RADE

The most frequented area of the city stands out for its lively atmosphere and numerous activities. On the Moulin Blanc side, you can stroll between the marina and a beach stretching for several kilometers. The Port du Commerce is known for its many restaurants (crêpes, seafood, etc.). LE CHÂTEAU-MUSEE DE LA MARINE

The oldest monument in the city, a military fortress since its origins (3rd century), has withstood all the assaults of history, even the Allied bombings. In front of what is now the Naval Museum, you will see two small cannons. They were used during the era of the prison. When a prisoner escaped, the cannons were fired. The sound would echo throughout the harbor, warning the inhabitants of an escape. The famous "thunder of Brest."
